Autumn leaves 2016
How to interpret silence, if all are still on a steep slope of recovery?
The slow pace of the walkers suggests going has become difficult.
Too many burdens,
too many out-times!
We think when walking in our thoughts
listening to advises friends gave free of charge
and yet more people flee, hear the footsteps of those following,
not all with good intentions, but still in pursuit as if chased by fear,
while destiny lies ahead like a breathless runner who collapsed before the goal
could be reached. We depart but never arrive. Endless journeys
in our imagination let us return to what was in vain in the past.
Not voices but footsteps are listened to. It should be the reverse.
At the near-by river the tunes of Leonard Cohen can be heard,
while Dylan stays silent, as if he has not been marked by world attention.
The focus on the lyrical song is one thing, the lyrics of the songs another.
When will Mary-Ann be stretched out
like a river
in between trees
all now in their autumn colours?
What breathtaking view!
At one spot a man watched his dog jump in and out of the water to fetch a stick.
People passed by. Some stopped.
The younger ones begin to play with the dog.
Agility and boundless energy lets the dog jump around. Laughter ignites the near-by trees.
It is autumn alright.
Watching the leaves descend one by one,
or many more all at once
when the wind rustles through the trees,
it is as if nature has gone nearly wild.
Here then speaks the language of diversity
exactly as to what it takes
to bring out beauty
only to be perceived from a certain angle
allowing to see when nature colours the water
in red and yellow and sometimes greenish.
There are others which have turned
almost completely purple, if not pale.
Hush, the silence reigns, lets others breathe, and those who run,
let these leaves catch up with them, for to fall or to descend
is to pick up once again the rhythm of the earth waiting for spring to come
next year.
