Planning

The AESOP Executive Committee informs: AESOP and ESPON have established a promising relationship with regard to exchanging knowledge about European spatial development. The European Spatial Planning Observation Network (ESPON) is set up to support policy development and to build a European scientific community in the field of territorial (spatial) development. The main aim is to increase the general body of knowledge about territorial structures, trends and policy impacts in an enlarged European Union (see www.espon.eu)

The ESPON 2006 programme incorporated 34 projects. These projects have been mapped in the ESPON Atlas, “Mapping the structure of the European territory”. Obviously, this Atlas touches relevant aspects of work.

Kritya Journal in India
Mediterranean Journal in Sweden

The general idea with www.mediterranean.nu is to publish poetry/prose inspired in some way or the other by the Mediterranean world. Not words depicting a tea saloon in London, the mountains in northern Sweden, the savannah in Africa, a jazz club in New York, a love affair in Tokyo, a hymn to this or that religion, political opinions or relations-situations-conversations that in no way tells us anything about the environment. The background has to be the famous Blue and its surroundings!

There has been a great response and interest so far and among poets we’ve highlighted there are names such as: Vénus Khoury-Ghata, Haris Vlavianos, Rachel Hadas, Immanuel Mifsud, Scott Cairns, Radovan Pavlovski, Lyn Lifshin …
