"Dear all,

You will be invited to the 5th seminar "Culture, Building Stone for Europe 2002" which will be held in Athens 3rd-5th June 1994. I hope you can all attend.

Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

The seminar was launched by the Flemish government and is now sponsored by the smaller EU-countries Portugal, Greece etc..

The aim is to focus on culture as a driving force in society and in the economy. It also wants to stress the importance of local culture in the building of one Europe.

The seminar is organised in the country which holds the EU-Presidency.

The six of us, with hopefully Louis Baeck and Lιonce Bekemans joining us part-time, will be the working group "Culture oriented economies: Innovation and Adaptation." We will network with the other groups, especially on "regional planning" and "transportation and aesthetical needs or regions" and others.

I propose the following agenda for our working group session:

  1. Evaluation of 5th seminar in Brugge (L. Bekemans, G. Lenssen) 30 minutes
  2. Paradigm shift in science / consequences for the economy and management (Franz Moser) 40 minutes
  3. Power, Creativity and Innovation in Companies (Willi Kuepper) 40 minutes
  4. Artistic transfers to management (Pierre Guillet) 40 minutes
  5. Islands of sustainable economies (H.Spehl / Moser) 40 minutes
  6. Cultural roots of economic thought - Mediterranean and Atlantic tradition (Louis Baeck) 40 minutes
  7. The two sides of economics / from work ethics to work aesthetics (Luc Hoebeke) 40 minutes

The remaining time will be for debate and for networking with the other working groups.

Could you please prepare a paper of your presentation. The papers will be published after the seminar.

We would have an informal get-together as a working group on Friday, 3rd June at 18.00. I personally would like to visit Delphi on Friday and it would be nice if we could take this trip as a group. If you want to join, please arrange to arrive on Thursday evening and let me know.

Your travel arrangements from Brussels, Hamburg, Cologne/Bonn or Vienna will be organised and paid for by the seminar. As soon as you have filled out your registration form you will be contacted.

I look forward to seeing you in Athens.

Sincerely,...."

Gilbert Lenssen
