The Berlin programme of 5th of May 2000 is as follows:

1) "The foreign view" - Series of discussion at "Literaturforum im Brecht Haus"

On Thursday, 4th of May, 20.00, the Literature Forum of Brecht House in Berlin will organise a cultural event under the title "the Foreign View" - reflections on cultural difference and variety. Within this series of public talks, Irene Runge shall be discussing with Michael May from the Jewish Community multicultural experiences in Berlin, Paris, London and Israel. 2) "Literature Express Europe 2000" - Cities conference at "Jean Monnet House"

In June and July 2000, 100 European authors from 41 countries will make a six week travel through Europe: from Portugal via Germany to Russia. The "Literature Express Europe 2000" shows the variety of European languages and literature, presented to the citizens in 20 cities, that is where the train shall stop for several days. "Literatur WERKstatt Berin" and Deutsche Bahn AG (German Railway Company) have invited all project partners to Berlin from 5th to 7th of May 2000, in order to launch the project with a huge "Cities Conference". 3) "Open Europe" - a Europe Week event at "Haus der Kulturen der Welt"

On 6th of May, from 17.00 to 2.00 am hours, "Open Europe" will take place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures). The design of the concept was inspired by the new media. 110 artists from 29 countries (including Portugal, France, Poland, Finland etc.) will provide a view of the wide range of artistic expression, including provocative avant-garde and classical traditional arts, a dialogue of literature, music, dance, performance, installation and new media.
