Milia
Upon arrival first settling into unique stone houses
and then a magical evening supper
21.00 Amphi Theatre
Gathering of poets with people and children from near-by villages for joint poetry reading
I know with absolute certainty that
years from now, with snow on my shoulders,
An old tree in a hard winter,
I will stand under a night of stars
And hear Agamemnon's horses
Thunder ashore at Kastelli.
I will sit again in Milia
Under the broad tree of humanity,
A thousand voices murmuring in its branches
I will see, in the lamplight,
A man speaking a poem with a child in his arms,
The echo of music framing him.
In the heart of an Irish winter,
With snow on my shoulders,
My love behind me in the bright doorway,
I will think of this night
And say with pride,
I was there, I applauded, I too was human
and alive.

At this moment Brendan said now he realizes what an unhealthy life he leads in Dublin. Shortly thereafter, upon returning, Brendan needed a triple by-pass. There followed that famous poem called "The man made out of rain", an image depicting his father standing at the foot of the hospital bed and him, Brendan, imagining all that pain just flowing.
