Signature
The signature of Roger David Servais consists of use of space along with the breaking of colours to let nuances speak in relation to very specific details e.g. the pointed shoe of the man sitting there and his nose aligned with the pointed shoe. Such a parallel depicts an idea of geometry used to subdivide space. The colours fill the empty space while the covered spaces are removed from the threat of being silenced by something else. There is a mutation of colours going on all the time. Chagall once said that a painting is then alive when the colours continue to work long after the painter has put his brushes aside.
