Sanguera-Kléme,Togo, Africa, April 2015
Introduction
There is an amazing story behind the creation of this mural in a village of Togo, Africa. Christa Kleinbub came to the Kids' Guernica - Guernica Youth exhibition as part of the festival organised by Ines Dulay Winkler and called Jukuta youth in Tübingen 15.7.2011. She was immediately inspired upon seeing these peace murals painted on a huge canvas. Upon returning to her school, Helene Lange Schule in Mannheim 2012 , she initiated not only there the painting of a mural, but linked her school to that village school in Togo, Africa where she had been as a teacher for two months. After purchasing the canvas in Japan, and brought to Frankfurt airport by Takuya Kaneda, coordinator of Kids' Guernica in Japan, the next task was to ship the canvas to Togo. After many mediations and additional contacts, including Mike van Graan and the Arterial Network, it was managed. The entire action about as well thanks to donations by those attending the school in Mannheim. Once that was settled, Christa Kleinbub undertook a second trip to Togo, this time together with Rainer René Mueller, so that the mural could be completed by the end of March, beginning of May 2015.
