Ποιειν Και Πραττειν - create and do

The Russian-Ukranian-German mural: intercultural dialogue in Berlin 2015

Nein zum Krieg! No to war

The fact that art helps to make friends and can connect people, that has shown our project "Art against war" with Russian, Ukrainian and German youths.

In early October 2015, we met in Berlin. The international children's art gallery "we are one" at Albatros e. V. has invited to participate in the project.

This initiative was funded by the Foundation EVZ, Robert Bosch Foundation and the Federal Foreign Ministry of Germany.

Due to the political situation between Russia and Ukraine, we were very apprehensive at the beginning, if a joint together would work. And I'm glad to say immediately: yes, it worked, and how!

Mahatma Gandhi was right when he said: "If we want to achieve true peace in the world, we must begin with the children".

At the project youth art school START ART School Moscow, Children's Art Gallery of Ukraine and the SOS Kinderdorf Berlin Moabit participated.

The mural with the title "No to war!" is the result of a four-day friendly and harmonious cooperation of these three groups. They thought of together, laughed together and let their brushstrokes search for peace. The result is an image with our blue earth, where many attractions exist like Big Ben, the Colosseum, the Brandenburg Gate, to name just a few. It includes a laughing cat, laughing sun and a path that interconnects all so that they stand side by side peacefully.

The children have painted their desire for a peaceful life and friendship - a world where fighting is prohibited. Every detail, every slogan, every brushstroke screams here for peace.

A friendship has come about. On the last day, the Moscow youth have invited their friends from Kiev and Berlin to Moscow.

The youth from Ukraine about their part of the mural.

Renate Philippisch:

Ich will Frieden, Freundschaft, Freude, Güte auf der Welt. Die habe ich gemalt.

I want peace, friendship, happiness, goodness in this world. That I painted.

Mascha Pilepenko

Ich will ohne Krieg leben.

I painted from my soul: all human beings are equal. They should respect one another. I want to live without war.

Arina Petschka:

It is lovely to think without borders.

The tree in the middle shows our roots, history, our legends, traditions, our faith. Links are fields, field work, the right - to see the church.

The ephemeral animals symbolize our interests, hobbies. For us it is very important the cohesion of the family. The Stork's Nest is a role model for that.

Like the rainbow is to look our future - we hope.

The mural was hung by being wrapped around a box like wall since the hall of the EVZ foundation had no other space for such a large canvas
