Exhibition in Gent Nov. 10, 2010
The opening of the exhibition on Nov. 10th precedes Nov. 11th marked in Belgium and especially in the area of Ghent as the ending of First World War.
Mural by the youth of Ghent
Reception in the shopping centre
Unfortunately Hatto Fischer arrived together with Alexandra Zanne and Bernard Conlon too late for the opening. All the speeches and the chief of police was missed. There was too much traffic in the tunnels coming out of Brussels. Still, there was a warm welcome, plenty of contacts with especially the youth who had painted the second mural, while getting to know Marianne Stevens and Bruno Steyaerts as coordinators for the mural by the smaller children, and many other people.
The philosopher Bart Verschaffel, University of Ghent
Bernard Conlon from Kids' Guernica, Belfast / Northern Ireland
Alexandra Zanne, Kids' Guernica Gezoncourt / France
Marianne Stevens, Coordinator of the mural of small children, and
Manuel Gonzales
Documentation of how mural of small children took shape
When leaving the exhibition space in the shopping centre, Bernard Conlon and Alexandra Zanne came down the escalator to underline what was awaiting us, namely a drive back to Gezoncourt and a second mural exhibition opening on Nov. 12th 2010.

Dear Hatto
The beginning of the press conference is 18h in the Shoppingcenter Gent Zuid, Woodrow Wilsonplein 4, 9000 Ghent. There is a parking garage under the Shoppingcenter
As first, the mayor of our city will give a speech. After that Mr Ruddy Coddens, who leads the department of the schools in Ghent, will take the word.
We would be glad if you can explain kids' Guernica as third person. Is this possible in about 5 minutes (English is good)?
Head commissioner Steven De Smet would act as moderator and will announce the movie of 'Ambrosia's Tafel' after your speech. The video shows us the creation of the two canvases (the canvas form the Center of Youth Arts and our canvas)
Finally, the Shopping Center Gent Zuid will inaugurate a butterfly tile. The butterfly tile is a symbol against violence.
I suspect that the press conference will take a more or less half an hour. After that we offer a drink to the guests.
I can also let you know that Bruno Steyaert en Marianne Stevens from the Center of Youth arts will be there on the 10 november
Kind Regards
Dieter Dieussaert
