Lost in Colours - Theatre Topos Allou

Last year was the beginning! We created an innovative performance that seeks to approach great paintings through the eyes of the children.

For instance, there is the play calle "Why is Gioconda smiling." It was received with great enthusiasm by both educators and students.

Performed with great success in many schools, our Theatre 'Topos Allou' has been able to give children an amazing time. Within a simple comical story, they can talk, discuss, give suggestions and participate in the action, and all while commenting or interpreting the paintings.

We see how easily children can become focused on the paintings of the Great masters such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Salvatore Dali etc. They respond very easily and in a playful way while learning to see along with the actors all the details. Important paintings become through theatre an object of play and action.

And so the journey continues this year with

                                     "Attention! Lost in colors"

It is a new adventure with actors, puppets, colors etc. Paintings are projected on a big screen. In front of the children's eyes, forms and figures come alive to entertain them. Music, songs take them away, on a voyage from one work to another. Degas, Gaugen, Mane, Caravaggio, Botticelli, appear before them. Each painting has a story to tell.

Furthermore, the performance gives this time special attention to Greek paintings by Lytras, Gyzis, Iakovides. In the end, performers and children will together join in a colorful dance.

The performance succeeds in its key aim, namely to entertain the children by making these paintings accessible. And it is done so by leaving behind the heavy meanings of History of Art and by turning everything into a game.

Theatre has a way to achieve all of this through game, dialogue, discussion, music and dance. Thus, children find a way to come close to masterpieces that they may never enjoy any other way.

AEROPLIO enters its 30th year of its long course and this is how we mean Theatre for children. Entertaining, but also educationally & culturally useful.
