What incredible space! Unsuspectedly is this space when coming in from the court yard to approach first the reception desk. Then one turns left and then turns the corner to enter the huge space.
Going through former exhibitions and publications on the webpage, attention is drawn to the fact that the gallery has been all along on the path of George Grosz. There is available a publication about this artist when in exile in the United States. He is linked to Berlin, to Expressionism and to others like Otto Dix.

Dexter Dalwood
Dexter Dalwood: Dichter und Drogen / Poets and drugs When seeing the large paintings on display, a lot can be said about the flagrant abuse of drugs to stimulate the fantasy. It reminds of all kinds of experiments in that direction, including that of Arthur Koestler. He ended up being horrified by his own memories hidden till then, memories which brought him again close to death as he was about to be executed by Franco's soldiers, if only to be rescued in the last moment. Arthur Koestler wanted to test the thesis that drugs do lead to an expansion in consciousness.
If a painter seeks to make use of drugs appear poetic, then there goes with this a claim of innocence in all of this. It may be even an appeal to the subconscious to „stand by me“. Since images are blurred, it is certain that it cannot be the same message when addressing the consciousness without influence of the drugs. No where in this exhibition can be seen such a contrast to see if the painter would test as well the opposite: to imagine a world rich enough to be painted without chemical influence.
Obviously this new gallery is spectacular and can bring out works of arts when on a huge canvas.
