Results
Fields of activity
The participants describe their kind of work at their local radio stations and possible connections to ‘hermes internet radio work’. The composition of the group of seven journalists being bound by contract to the project is to be considered as heterogeneous. Represented are editors-in-chief, culture-editors, news-editors, a format designer and even a radio play director. The difference of their fields of activity is considered by the group as rather positive, according to it an enriched exchange is hoped for.
Project supply
The journalists tasks for the common project are defined. They are responsible for supplying the project with news and articles concerning cultural topics translated in English. Additonal topics concerning the project itself are required and being made available for the network.
Presentation of the Website
The prepared prototype of the website containing the internet radio project is presented. The journalists and the participants of the steering committee meetings are giving additional advice concerning the website’s lay-out.
The four essential features have to be seen at once when the site pops up:
-
the news-magazine
-
the article-magazine
-
the stream containing folk music /special local music from the partnership-regions
-
the interactive communication-level (Exchange-board for recipients as well as a communication line for journalists as a ‘Work Group Solution’ and/or internal discussion forum.
The following requirements for the website’s lay-out are declared as decisive:
-
the contents of the site ‘Cultural Heritage’ have to be formed rather ambitious;
-
the website’s lay-out has to be rather simple enabling recipients who have technical equipments of lower standard to navigate the site easily (for example by using simple graphics, less images and small picture-formats);
-
in spite of the rather simple construction the site has to be enlarged easily with new interaction- and crossmedia software.
Additionally, the site shall connect different HERMES-projects and streams of the partnership radio stations. For further ideas/criticism an e-mail-adress has been installed: website@radiolotte.de. The adress is managed by Pierre C. Deason.
Formalities
Partner-Journalists are receiving working-contracts, the contents are being discussed.
Editorial board
Questions concerning the editorial shaping were discussed in the sense of the project’s network-character. The journalists being bound by contract to the project decide contents and shaping, HERMES radio-office is only working as a coordinator. Answers to possible questions are discussed through an internal discussion-forum.
Members of the editorial board according to their participation in the project are:
-
Ditcheva, Svetlana (Editor Bulgarian National Radio)
-
Fortuna, Katarzyna (Editor Radio Krakow)
-
Gozon, Akos (Editor-in-Chief Petöfi Radio Hungaria)
-
Helbing, Michael (Editor-in-Chief Radio Lotte Weimar)
-
Mesarić, Vid (Editor Croatian Radio)
-
Tarbajovska, Lucia (Radioplay Director Slovak Radio)
The board is coordinated by Deason, Pierre C. (Radio Lotte Weimar, coordination HERMES internet radio project).
Schedule
The website’s launch is planned for the first of October. Due to technical problems a postponement to the 15th of October may be advisable.
Name of the Project
Discussions at the workshop and at the meeting of the steering committee showed that the internet radio project should be separated from a general HERMES-project website that has to be created. Correspondingly, the radio-website should be given a name describing its contents and at the same time quoting the area of conflict betweeen ‘Heritage’ and ‘New Media’.
The first suggestion ‘Hermes-Radio’ is declined, the names ‘Cultural Heritage Radio Network’ or ‘Heritage Radio’ are preferred. Further suggestions have to be collected, in advance the urls ‘heritageradio.net’ und ‘heritage-radio.net’ have been protected already. The abbreviation ‘CHR’ for ‘Cultural Heritage Radio’ is not available any more.
