The people working at ERT did not accept the shut-down, but continue to broadcast via Internet. Every evening various programs are absolved with people reading poetry or singers performing. Some like Arvanitaki sang already on the first evening. For that Friday evening, it was planned to let the orchester of ERT perform "Nimrod" from Elgar's "Enigma Variations", along with the choir. All this is evidence that ERT is more than a mere public institution for it embodies and links many cultural elements often ignored and overlooked in a world seeking to be always on the fast track.

All kinds of solidarity statements have come in from around the world. Others just express amazement and hope that these turmoils caused by the sudden shut-down shall be resolved. It is said that it was a colossal mistake by Samaras to make this move. It was a lonely decision to shut down ERT. While it is admitted something had to be done to make the public TV and Radio station become more 'lenient', and while the government was put under pressure by the Troika to come up with at least 2000 cuts in civil servant jobs, it is quite another thing to shut down not only an entire institution but more so the public TV and Radio channel servicing all of Greece and the Greek diaspora.
