Wrocław’s children paint Guernica and march for peace in the world!
"Work on Wrocław’s Guernica lasted from mid-May to 17 June 2011 with nearly 20 children participating in the effort. Artistic guidance was given to the young artists by Mariusz Mikołajek and Witold Liszewski, two Wrocław-based painters. In addition to creative sessions during which the children painted their work, there were two meetings devoted to art history. The children heard a great deal about painting techniques and the history of painting, and learned to recognize the work of some of the most famous artists."
Wrocław is particularly entitled to participation in the Kids' Guernica project, as Wolfram von Richthofen, who was personally responsible for bombing the Spanish city of Guernica in 1937, was born nearby.
