Ποιειν Και Πραττειν - create and do

Civil Protection

As a consequence of the projects SISMA (earthquake related activities) and Miriad 21 (industrial accident related activities as addressed by Seveso II directive), POIEIN KAI PRATTEIN has become active in Civil Protection exercises.

A third dimension deals with flood emergencies and related disaster. This has meant advising, for example, three Greek authorities in Crete when setting up the project called RED CODE.

Lately POIEIN KAI PRATTEIN received not only in GRDP but also in other cases offers to participate in meetings and conferences aiming to improve Civil Protection (against floods, seismic activities, etc.).

The network tasks will be:

  2. Planning of European projects
  3. Funds raising
  4. Project managing and realization
  5. Advisory service
  6. Studies, analysis and publication of the results

POIEIN KAI PRATTEIN brought into the project the Prefecture of Iraklion so as to connect the network with a Greek region and political authority interested in furthering civil protection exercises based on an extensive volunteer and civil protection training program. It should be noted that in Greece the military and the civil part of civil protection are separated and not connected in any way.

GREECE OBSERVER: Iraklion Prefecture

Civil Protection aims to the protection of citizen's life, health and property from natural hazards, technological accidents (including biological, chemical and nuclear threats) and other disasters, causing emergency situations during peace period. Based on the above, this scope covers also the protection of cultural heritage, historical buildings and monuments, the resources and the infrastructure. In general, the main task of Civil Protection is the minimization of catastrophe consequences.
