Referring to your question about the person who deals with museum topics in MIK, I'd like to inform that one of MIK's projects is "Exhibition Dynamics". The project is addressed to regional gallery and museum personnel. Our assumption is that the museum is both a "teaching" and "learning" place, and a part of civic society. We organise seminars on the organisation of exhibition space, interactive aspects of exhibitions as well as meetings on developing and financing museum projects. This way we try to build a forum of exchanging experiences, and we offer an opportunity to get acquainted with new solutions. The coordinator of the project is Mrs. Joanna Hajduk.
If you need any further information, please let me know.
Best regards,
Agnieszka Szewczyk
Małopolski Instytut Kultury (MIK) in Kraków, which has been for the past three years an agency of the Małopolska Region authorities, redefines its activities in order to comprise the challenges facing the present-day culture. This operation requires a process of indispensable transformations leading to the development of an institution with modern structure and a programme adjusted to new reality. In its basic concept, the agency should be the organization:
-
to inspire and initiate modern forms of managing cultural offerings in the Region,
-
to support local cultural institutions in developing their own long-term projects,
-
to build and disseminate scenarios of educating informed culture users,
-
to initiate new paths of international co-operation between cultural institutions,
-
to prepare and implement alternative forms of educating culture moderators.
Forms of Operation:
-
consulting services regarding self-presentation, building new relationships with the audience and fundraising for cultural activities,
-
assistance in initiating international contacts and search for partners to conduct joint projects,
-
organisation of workshops and seminars requested by local culture-building circles.
Consequently, the new MIK programming formula updates the inherited traditions of the former Kraków Cultural Centre, characterised by developing space for the operation of cultural institutions and spreading cultural life.
The above-specified programme offerings of the MIK are meant for all cultural institutions, non-government organisations, including regional ones, and the residents of the Małopolska Region.
Activities of MIK within HERMES project will contain two modules, dedicated to:
1. Manor-house in Dołęga, branch of the Regional Museum in Tarnów
2. Skansen (open-air) museum of bee-keeping “Bartnik” in Stróże
Both sites are situated in the areas where a kind of social poverty and deficiency of the culture is observed, but also with huge, so far not employed potential. This is why initiative of this kind will have a real chance of improving quality of life of inhabitants and creating new attractive offers for wide range of recipients.
First case is a traditional Polish manor-house, unique because of its authenticity and mythical atmosphere that has been preserved there. The other case is a site presenting Slavonic traditions of bee-keeping (agricultural, craftsman and cultural heritage).
In both sites thinking of wise utilization of the potential already exists. HERMES and new technologies will help to go forward.
