Sonia Guggisberg at Athens' old airport             Nov. 2014

One of her many video installations is called: "Lost sounds"

https://vimeo.com/67067280

When looking seeing and listening to this video, some poetic associations are brought about:

the earth breathes
like a woman
looking up a tree
at the bark
wondering
where are the stars
amidst strange sounds
since they seem to come
counter clock wise
to look back in time
making even Pink Floyd
restless since the moon shine
was not there to focus
on the dark side of the tree
folding growing exploding
to sounds made
by invisibile creatures
and mechanical things
only to be interrupted
by the breathing
of that woman
lying on the ground
to look up the tree
forever in focus
of lost sounds

1-
"Lost Sounds" is a history sound that rebuilt the past of an old incinerator with everything that was incinereted there. Now we have a interesting suspended square and o cultural space in the some area. The conection with the past are the old trees in this square.
Was important as realize the work and see the potence or the power of touching the others, the public....

Lost Sounds was made to keep the memory of this area and rebuild the memories inside the public.

From the Brazilian Price of Photography: ensays
Mounted with debris from demolition and projection, "Samarina is a video installation that parts from scenes captured in the demolition of sheds that were part of my family history. The scenes focus on the movement of smoke that floats circling through space while the walls come down, it is the demolition of history.

It is worth remembering that every demolition is an end that opens the door for the emergence of new possibilities. They are possibilities such as other buildings and new stories emphasizing the urban / human redesign. The sound was made from sounds of demolition and in the background a child's voice sings songs that were recorded live at this same time. One of the songs is called Samarina.

Urban falls is a vídeo project that gathers a series of falls recorded in demolitions in the urban space. Assembled is an almost single movement, the video shows little by little the fluidizing of the structures. The project has the objective of showing that set, rigid structures also fall. Urban Waterfalls present different falls in demolitions as a metaphor to speak of the dismantling not just of the city but of set structures of the institutional power and thus proposes a critical look at these aspects. Contemporary society experiences a new paradigm change where the reflection shows the softening of rigid structures of power for mobile, interchanging structures. “The truth is that never has so much power been connected to the lack of project. Democracy, which apparently controls its power, appears to be kidnapped by it.”(Boaventura Souza Santos, 2010). Form must be generated that allow the reconfiguration of the new codes but first it is necessary to recover the capacity of amazement. “The first gesture of art, said Deleuze, …is the manufacturing of a frame. A cutout in chaos.” (Boaventura Souza Santos 2010).

The noise of the silence : point to a discussion about the human closure inside their own impossibilities.
The immobility's and the mobility inside a contemporary life.
